This is our very first blog post! Our team at Our Special Story is so excited to start this blog. Through this blog, we hope to benefit the special needs community with knowledge, skills, resources and more.
Who we are.
We are a team of behaviour therapists who are passionate about enriching the lives of children with special needs. We provide individualised intervention mainly to children with autism based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles.
Why we are doing this.
As behaviour therapists, we use A LOT of materials to teach our students with autism and special needs. Oftentimes, we struggle to find the right resources that we need. They are either too advanced or lack the right prompts needed for our students to learn effectively. Therefore, we created this platform to provide resources specially tailored for children with autism.
Who this blog is for.
For anyone and everyone! Parents, teachers and therapists who work with children. ABA strategies can be applied with children of all ages, levels, and diagnosis!
How to use the resources.
Our materials and printables have been designed to make learning simplified and progressive. We have incorporated general prompts that have been useful in teaching our own students of differentiated learning levels.
We will be posting resources according to themes each month. The printables will target different skills such as matching, speech and language, school readiness (writing, colouring, reading, quantitative concepts...), motor skills, and more!
