Teaching Objectives

Develop better pencil control by tracing and writing within the given space
Gauge letter sizing and alignment through different layouts (bubbled alphabets, boxes, lines)
Practise and develop neater and cleaner handwriting for school readiness.
Learn how to trace and write different alphabet in the days of the week with the correct strokes.
How to use
Focus on a specific day of the week, and slowly build up from tracing, writing within boxes and lines to increase their familiarity.
Have your child practise tracing first with the correct strokes before writing
Get your child to point to the number prompts for forming the correct strokes inside the alphabet before tracing
Move on to worksheets with box and line prompts to practise neater handwriting
Test your child if they remember the strokes of the alphabets when focusing on a specific day of the week
Teaching tips
If your child is just starting to learn how to write, thicken the lines and boxes to help your child develop awareness of staying within the guidelines.
Guide your child to trace the different letters along with you using his index finger before using a pencil
To input more practice, put the paper in a sheet protector and have your child trace & erase with the correct strokes using a marker & duster
Use a jumbo pencil or pencil grips to develop better pencil control
Making writing more fun by using painting tools, colored pencils or crayons, a magic invisible ink pen, or writing in sand.
Pair it with the “Days of the week” wheel and let your child choose which day they want to start tracing and writing.

Embed more learning opportunities
Receptive language – “point to Monday” / “where is letter M?
Expressive language – point to a day and ask your child, “What day is this?” / “what comes before Tuesday?”
Help your child learn another language by getting him to repeat in a teaching language “Monday, Isnin (Malay)”, “Tuesday, xīng qī èr (Chinese)”
Spelling – cover the words with your hands and ask your child to recall the spelling of the days of the week
Teach your child how to read the days of the week by breaking down the pronunciation (e.g. “mon-day” , “tue-s-day” , “wed-nes-day”, “thurs-day”, “fri-day”)
